This game reminded me a little bit of the Police Quest series, which was one of my favorite adventure series from Sierra. But towards the end it does tend to drift more into an action-ish plotline you'd see in a movie, rather than something from a day in the life of a real police officer.
I wish they'd make a new game like this, or stop protecting the damn Police Quest series. I'm getting bored of the same old stuff. More cop simulation-adventures, plx. |

And on a final note, it is a bit confusing to know when you should draw your weapon. (If it is required, you can do so by clicking the gun icon on your character.)
But most of the time all that is really required is a simple click of your gun icon on the enemy, and the game handles the rest. |

It depends if you wanna point the gun at someone or just arm yourself (a safety precousion).

Not just any 'ex-cop' but Jim Walls, of Police Quest fame (before they went with Daryl Gates for PQ4)

I haven't played this game in forever. I still have 2 CDs of it, a composition Tsunami disc and an individual CD, so I might have to give it an install/go again. I just thought I would drop something funny that I seem to remember from playing the game when I was younger: Try to clean your gun while it's loaded. "OOPS!!!!"

Yep! There it is I hadn't even looked at the review page since I was browsing through the forum. It would probably have been a good idea to. heh. It was certainly a great game with great memories attached, though.

Hmm...is it just me or has this game got one of the most annoyingly bad music scores EVER!!! at first I didnt get music so had to choose the ROLAND sound option but when it appeared I thought there was something wrong with it, is it suppossed to be that bad??? its not so much a tune as random noises and sounds. Have a listen folks and let me know what you think, is it my soundcard or is it just plain crap....I know its an oldish game but still, even for that time its complete pants.

Then there must be something wrong.
IF you choose a wrong sound device the sound won't work like it should. I get a quite enjoyable music score, true it can get a little repetitive if you're stuck in one place for a long time, but it's not annoying or anything. Try changing the sound options (or run the game through DOSBox - the soundblaster settings should work just fine). |

oh wow! Ive just tried running it with the superb VDMS dos sound program and its MUCH better, actually sounds like a decent soundtrack now, must have been something wrong with the way it was handling my soundcard. I tried DOSBOX but the strange thing is I have NEVER managed to get that little program to work despite numerous attempts/reinstalling it etc. It Just clicks, changes resoloution, seems to initiate and then clicks back out of resoloution and ends, as if its trying to run and fails....most peculiar. Anyway, Music on Blue Force greatly improved now...thanks....its great fun this game, especially when you tangle with the least convincing gang members ever whilst on duty, the dialogue is hilarious, almost as funny as grabbing some fat white guy, shoving a bandana on his head..putting shades on him and trying to convince us hes a dangerous gang member...you MUST play this folks, if only to see the..ahem...gang members part.
Seriously though, if you like POLICE QUEST, you'll love this, its POLICE QUEST in all but name, a joy to play and very addictive. :bye: |
