I'd say the new Pirates! game is definitely the best remake, but I'd put the AGD King's Quest 2 remake at second. I always loved King's Quest, but the first couple certainly didn't have much plot. The remake changes that completely.

Hmm, it says on the AGS website, that AGS was created by Chris Jones. Does anybody know if this is Chris "Tex Murphy" Jones?
Which brings me back on topic; I liked Overseer. I don't know if I think it's the greatest remake ever, but it's pretty damn good. *edit* Never mind. It seems it's a different Chris Jones. |

This is going to bring a few results of "it sucks badly" but I'll go ahead and say it...
Doom 3 in my opinion is the best remake. For those of you who don't know, they were taking the original Doom, and simply changing it in a few ways, i.e. graphics new monsters, a few new weapons, cinematics. That was probably it. So in true spirit it is actually a remake. It also explains why the game goes back to old roots of just shooting & gunning. |
