Has anyone else been following the War In chad? do people here even know where it is? I think it has very serious implication for the region as well as determning the future of various African sub-ethnic groups. The rebels Has clashed in the capital and the Senior Commander for the Cad Army was Killed in battle not far back perhaps we may see another Libyan invasion and Annex of the North as we did in the 80's.

Dose anyone else know about his other them me :bleh: or am I all alone

Nope, never heard of any civil war there. Heard half the press claiming there's civil war in Iraq, though.

Now, where exactly is chad... *Finds atlas*

I've hear about it. Hope it ends soon, but you have to realize that civil war (or even wars between countries) will be more and more often in Africa.

You see when Africa's countries formed, they considered the theritories that were formed by white clonialist forces, naturally the conquerers (from the 18th and 19th century) didn't care much about ethnic, tribal, religios/ocult specifications of the people. That's why most countries in Africa now face a situation, where their borders are fixed, but the people are mixed. And they have just started the proces of nation forming (people living in a country realizing they are a nation). And usually the dominant group is the one that trys to take over (discriminating the rest).
There are also big chances Africa will soon go to war over the waters of the Nile river (and a larger war may break out) in the already so enpoverished regions of central-eastern Africa.

Well I know where is Chad, but I really don't care about their internal affairs. They are far from us, and as long as they don't wage war on us, they can do whatever they like. If they destroy themselves, one less warmongering country, if they do peace one more peaceful country...

I have no idea that there's a civil war in Chad, although I know where it is, but does it have anything with that huge humanitarian crisis that hapenned in Sudan a year or so ago?

I know where Chad is but I couldn't care less (relatively) as to if there is a civil war there or not. The same way I am sure most of the population of Chad didn't give a damn about the greek civil was after the end of WWII.

Let the most powerful win, and perhaps in the future there will be peace.

As for colonialism, indeed the great powers of the day were responsible for much of the mess for reasons stated by Sebastianos, but, considering the constant wars in much of the continent, I seriously doubt it things would be better without their original interferance. Not exactly peaceful before the "white man" arrived in the sub saharan africa.

past tense doesn't belong here. The crisis is still there. Chad had received the most refugees from Darfur and since the fragile peace between rebels and Sudanese government cracked the fighting started again. And one group (originatelly with some links to Chad military) decided to use the region as their HQ and launch an attack on Chad form there.
