Well, I looked around and wasn't able to find it mentioned anywhere previously, so hopefully my cursory examination was sufficient and I'm not bugging anyone.
Apologies if I'm wrong and just missed in in my perusal of the other requests. Anyway, I hold that this was one of the best strategy games ever made, easily up there with titles such as Star Craft or Command & Conquer, but strangely it seems to have faded into obscurity for reasons I cannot fathom. Damn I miss my copy of Dark Colony. For some reason it vanished from my collection without a trace some years ago, and I've been periodically hunting for it ever since. If it turns out to be a viable request for this site and Abandonware as I'm led to believe, I would really love to be able to get my hands on it again by way of download. I believe it was published by Strategic Simulations, if I remember the company name and logo correctly, so hopefully that helps. Any assistance would be duly appreciated. Cheers, Stix Jr. |

Welcome to Abandonia Stix Jr.
Dark Colony (1997) Published by Strategic Simulations Inc. (Not ESA Member, status => Acquired) Developed by Gametek (Not ESA member, status => Active) Unfortunately it's still sold at Amazon into SSI compilations. Sorry, but we can't put it on site until it's still sold. (original copies). |

Damn.
Oh well, cheers anyway mate. Bad news, but I do appreciate the help all the same. This was one of my favourite games when I was little, and it's still one of the best strategy games I've ever played today, so it was worth a shot. I guess I'll just have to sit back and wait until Amazon finally stops carrying it. It's alright, I'm patient. I can't imagine it'll be too much longer now before it becomes available as Abandonware. And thanks for the welcome, mate. I've actually been visiting the site for a while now, this is just my first time on the forum. |

Well, if you like this game so much you could start to write a review, I assure you that the upload procedure will be faster with your help. But yeah, we have to wait a little anyway.

I'd be more than happy to do just that mate, but I'd seriously need to play it again before I could write about it, especially with any sort of objectivity in mind. It's been too long. The last time I remember playing it I was somewhere between the ages of 12 and 14.

Dark Colony has been listed as abandonware on the oldwarez list for some time. Is there anyone that can change that. I was getting set to make an ISO of the game for the ISO cellar. Glad I didn't.
Very good game but not in the same league as Starcraft. It does seem that Starcraft has an awful lot of similarities to Dark Colony (which came out first). Blizzard added a lot more glitz to Starcraft than what Dark Colony has. Anyway if it becomes available I would be glad to make an ISO of it.

Unfortunately I can't change the outdated OWList, it's unreliable at the moment.

Hello all, any help would be nice!
basically i remember a scifi RTS game with 3 factions, 1 human, 1 like roswel grays and 1 zerg type race. One of the main things i remember about it was your "base" was like a pole/tower and all the buildings were attached to that. The humans had say a training facility but the Grays had a cloning vat thing I seem to remember the graphics were fairly good but that might just be my mind playing tricks on me! Edit: never mind just found it! typical It was called "dark Colony" Last edited by Dave; 25-11-2008 at 12:55 PM. Reason: Posts merged. |
