OK, so I'm still on Rainwife's laptop because my PC's having HD trouble. I wanted to clear it out and set the whole system again, but while making partitions (I want a dual boot) it read an error. Seems like the HD is damaged, so I'm getting a new one.

Any suggestions?

check your ram as well
I once replaced a harddisk.
(gave errors during formatting)

there was nothing wrong with the hd. It was the ram...

Unfortunately it is the HD (I had the RAM checked out now - my neighbour has a PC repair shop).

I just hate the fact I lost so much DATA
