The Purpose is the Thread's Title, EoF.

I've put it here so that any who use Boxer for Mac, getting it through Abandonia, and don't contact Alun directly with troubleshooting (since they linked to it from us, through the programmes page) have somewhere to search and find, in the forums, and post their questions on it. I / we can then either answer them ourselves or we can forward them onto Alun (Bestor - the designer of the App) to answer. He's very pleased that we're linking to his neat programme, even if he doesn't cite us for games... His excuse is that he doesn't want to be seen as condoning what could be piracy. But he has several other gaming links on his site to other places, so I don't really get that one. It doesn't wash with me, but I can't force him to put us as an affiliate, can I? Not unless I get the thumb-screws and other hideously painful torture devices out... But I don't want to do that. Like Dos says - maybe one day it'll be used by someone on a *%$$&^*%$£ Macintosh. (Dos vs Mac = Dos wins, IMO, but Boxer is an excellent application - best one on Mac to play Dos games - and extends our grasp to the balls of Apple users. [moohoohahahahaaa, etc.]) I just thought it'd be a good idea to make a thread so that when you type "boxer problems/troubleshooting" into the search - you find it. If you feel it has no purpose, Mr. Fiery, remove it. But I think it'd be prudent to keep it around. Just in case. I don't tend to do things that have no purpose very often, matey. Well, this is a very good idea. However, Troubleshooting is for people who have problem running games. The idea is that everybody who have a problem should start their own personnal thread. If they happen to use Boxer then we will simply help them based on that.
What you could do, however, is to create some kind of guide specially designed around Boxer. If and when you do that then I'll be very happy to close and move your guide to the Troubleshooting Archive, where I think your idea would be best used. Anybody browsing thru the Archives would then be able to read the guide. Hopefully a few newcomers actually go read the Archives before they post. I like to think that we do get less questions asked this way, even though it is unprovable and quite unlikely. -EoF |

Eagle: If you can come up with text for a header in the Troubleshooting forum, I can add one with links to the DOSBox guides for different systems.
I think I've gotten the hang of it now. (sort of) |

I'll see what I can rip off Alun's site. I'm sure he'll let us use something. I can make sense of how the App works, but it's not as easily tinkered with as Dosbox. So: A Dummy's Guide to a Dummy's App. Gotcha. |
