I have AVG free edition, but I don't scan regularly since it's SOOO slow. I should eventually actually pay money for a faster scanner, but anyways... About reinstalling these games: I think it's something more than just a corrupted file since it's happening with ALL my Sierra VGA games. I didn't mention, but this also happens with SQVGA and laura bow 2 (which I never got to play .) I guess it could be the memory thingy, but I'm not really sure what lines I need to edit in config.sys. About TSRs... What the crap are they?? Tasers? Anyways, this problem has been going on for a while, so I'm not quite sure what I've installed at the time of the problem.

I just tried running it by booting DOS only, and that seemed to work. the only problem is that I can't get my mouse or soundcard to work. Does anyone know how to load mouse and sound card drivers in DOS?

Since you are using WIN 98 i suggest you use abandonia boot disk and run the game from DOS screen. It should give you enough memory to start most games.

If not, you can edit the autoexec. bat file and config.sys file on the bootdisk and reduce even more unnecessar programes (like maybe keyboard setting, soundblaster driver, mouse - it all depends on what game you are trying to run).

That should solve it.

Unless the game has issue with FAT32 file sistem.

Autoexec.bat doesn't have a lot running. Here's all it says:
C:\PROGRA~1\AVG\BOOTUP.EXE
SET BLASTER=A220 I7 D1 H7 P330 T6
SET SBPCI=C:\PROGRA~1\CREATIVE\AUDIO\DOSDRV
If I disabled any of this, wouldn't I have sound issues? Sorry, I'm not as much of a geek as I like to sound like. LOL

Autoexec.bat:

@ECHO OFF
path=c:\windows\command
LH /L:1 MOUSE.COM
rem c:\mouse\mouse.exe
SET BLASTER=A220 I7 D1 T2
SET SNDSCAPE=C:\WINDOWS
SET CTSYN=C:\sbpci
c:\sbpci\apinit
prompt $p$g

Config.sys:
NUMLOCK=ON
BREAK=ON
DOS=HIGH,UMB,NOAUTO
FILESHIGH=40
FCBSHIGH=1,0
BUFFERSHIGH=30,0
rem LASTDRIVEHIGH=J
LASTDRIVE=Z
STACKSHIGH=9,256
DEVICE=A:\HIMEM.SYS /V
DEVICE=A:\EMM386.EXE RAM /MIN=0 I=B000-B7FF /V
SHELL=A:\COMMAND.COM A:\ /E:1024 /P

-------------

Then you can "play" with the memory lines. For example you can increase the setting for EMS mmeory size.

Config.sys:

DOS=HIGH,UMB,AUTO
DEVICE=C:\WINDOWS\HIMEM.SYS
DEVICEHIGH=C:\WINDOWS\EMM386.EXE 10000 RAM
FILES=30
BUFFERS=20
STACKS=32,256
LASTDRIVE=Z
device=C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND\display.sys con=(ega,,1)

Uh... What? Are you saying I should copy what you have and paste it in mine? We don't have identical hardware you know.

BTW won't the abandonia boot disk screw up all my settings? I use this computer for things other than old games, and I hope that won't send my computer back to the stone age if you know what I mean... will it make any significant or nonsignificant changes?
