Okay I discovered the bug. I will try to contact the dosbox people in order to get it fixed.

Data,
do you know when is the next release of DOSBox due?
What kind of improvements (except game compartibility) we will see? [/b][/quote]
according to the dosbox forum it can be any minute.
They seem to aim to fix a lot of bugs that were reported with 0.62
here you can check all changes since 0.62
Becareful the authors don't comment in a way that everybody understands it.

Thanks!
It does not seems that complicated (list) as I did couple of C++ classes, and now I'm taking class that should be another level of C++.
I wonder if they are planning to implement direct mount of ISO from the DOSBox.

I managed to get it running with VDM sound :Brain:
Just turn off everything under protected mode in compatibility tab and it works like a dream! Also, for sound, you need to add -a argument in run....
Then again, why am I writing all this, I'll just include the VDM config file
Copy it into 7 cities of gold directory and start the game with it! Btw, change the directories before you do! (right click -> properties)

Sorry to bring up a old thread but this game has been killing me trying to get it to run. Im using DOSBox 0.63 and I finally got the color and sound right but the thing randomly crashes all the time.
So I came across this thread and tried running it in XP and it does indeed work without crashing but no sound of course. I downloaded VDM sound but when I right click on the 7cog app and try to start in vdm sound i get " You require 17312 more bytes of conventional memory to play"
Im really lost I dont even know where the compatibility tab is to turn off everything under protected mode like you said. I also have no clue how you copy the VDM config file you provided into the 7cog directory
Can anyone explain what i need to do at a novice level :help:
