Default Age Of Empires [SOLD]

One question: is Age of Empires 1 abandonware already? Or is it sold yet?
Friend of mine searches for the game, so he wanted to know it.
If it's abandonware, could someone upload it? Or perhaps link to where you can download it?

It's not abandoned yet. The game is still available on budget.

I've seen it in stores right alongside the other old but popular games (Red Alert, Baldurs Gate...)
you can also get it in the Age of Empires Gold Pack (it contain the expansion to age of empires, but also Age of empires 2)
aaah
Age of Empires.
I remember a friend of my brother borrowing it to me. I enjoyed it so much I was sad to see it go.
My brother then introduced me to Civilization (which he, being an fps-gamer, thought was exactly the same as Age of Empires)
eventually I bought Age of Empires + expansion and Age of Empires 2. And they're all gathering dust somewhere by now

Age of Empires was the first strategy game I ever played and the first game I bought for my first PC . It really did leave its impression on me as it introduced me to a whole new type of game, before it I had only played arcade games and a couple of fpses.

I believe Age of Empires was my first RTS aswell (ironically I was more interested in the pretty buildings and units than the actual warfare... but that soon changed )

I have to say that I loved the graphics as well, I used to be amazed the way the dead bodies decomposed before your eyes  . Did you know that the Engine for Age of Empires was so groundbreaking that it took an entire year to make, just the engine! Most game engines at the time had to constantly refresh the whole of the screen, which used up lots of processing power but on AOE only the things that had changed got updated, which allowed for much more complex graphics.

yeh.
I've heard rumours of an Age of Empires 3
Not sure if its true or not, just telling you what I heard.

I remember Age of Empires 2 taking a long long time to make (or perhaps I was looking forward to it so much it seemed a long time)

I love this series; I bought the Collector's Edition on eBay which includes The Age of Empires, Rise of Rome Expansion, Age of Empires II, the Conqueror's Expansion, and a music soundtrack. Four CD's altogether in a double jewel case. Also had some trading cards and a big manual. This is one of the few games that I've played for years and not gotten the least bit tired of. I just wish they had made an Age of Empires III instead of that mythology stuff.

I bought the original Age of Mythology... and I was not happy.

The original Age of Empire games have a charm about them (Age of Empires 2 lost a bit of that charm)
In fact the only game that reminded me of Age of Empires is Rise of Nations (same creator(s)? I recall something like that)

anyway.
The entire way the game worked was like an advanced Age of Empires (only it went into the present)
