Ooh, I remember this, quite awhile ago we had a really bad computer, so after awhile my dad got us a new one, and he got this game for me, it's still one of the best strategy games I've ever played.

This was fun, but I preferred Castles 2. It was like Star Control 2 to SC1: so much was added around a fairly simple but potent first game to make an entirely new and more interesting second one. But I definitely liked the first title in the Castles series, and I'm just sorry they didn't sell enough to justify in the accounting department's mind a third game.

Does anyone remember how to toggle from building "outer walls" to "inner walls"?

Is there any manual available?

Does anyone know the differences between square and round towers?

Thanks

I found a text version of the manual here:

http://starlord.freeshell.org/starlo...ga/castles.txt

It was some help.

There was also an add-on released for this game, "Northern Campaigns", must
