I've been trying to play this game on Windows XP, but it runs too slow.
I've even tried with a VDMS shortcut, but it still ran with a huge slow-down.

Has anyone else had any problems with this?

What's the speed/ram of your machine? Dosbox eats a lot of resources.

it's a pentium 4, 3.2ghz with 256mb ram
But I'm not using DOSbox, I guess that's the problem huh

I don't like DOSbox because some DOS games do not run in it (for ex. Abuse, Blood)
And so far I've managed to get every game running properly with VDMS...

I'll post the VDMS shortcut here if I can get this thing playing.

Almost every game will run allright in DosBox with a little tweaking here and there. The ones that have problems are those with high base requirements.

Micro Machines should run like a charm in DosBox, though.

Start by having a look at the official FAQ on the DosBox site.
Basic Setup and Installation
Command Line
Z instead of C at the command prompt
Internal Programs (important, especially MOUNT)
Most of the stuff in there is not really needed, but you would do best to familiarize yourself with the specific topics I linked to.
The mounting of your DosBox games directory, switching the promt to the emulated C: drive and clearing the screen from previous commands can all be executed from the [autoexec] section of dosbox.conf, so you won't have to re-type them every time round.
Frontend programs can help running DosBox with varying configurations for different games.
For both a more accessible user interface and oldschool feel, you can use Norton Commander (get it from our programs and utilities page - scroll down to the bottom to find it). NC might seem awkward at first, but in fact it is a very functional genuine DOS era file manager frontend. It has a plethora of functions that will help you in navigating around the directories, while still retaining the command prompt.

everything's alright but there's one thing that makes me a little bit angry...the game is working very slow and it is almost impossible to play it. How to make it faster?

Are you running it in DosBox? Then just crank up the cycles.

Hi,

When I have installed the program and opens it the start page appears, as I remember from the Amiga - but when I push ENTER nothing happens?

Why is that?

I don't use DOSbox when I run the program, is that necesarry? I run it in XP.

The reason why I haven't tried with DOSbox is that I have hard time using, I simply can't press ":" because I'm using a danish keyboard and I can't figure out which button(s) to press to make the ":"

Will anybody help me?

Thanx

Not "neccessary" per se, but by doing that you'll save yourself a lot of headaches.

You can open DosBox.conf and change the line responsible for keyobard layout to help you with that.

You can configure drive mounting (and changing between mounted drives) to be executed automatically. In DosBox.conf, add any commands you want to be automated at the end of file after [autoexec].
