hm..
most of all because while i'm browsing the games and i find a title i loved in the old days, i think "YAY" - just to be pissed off seeing i can't get the game in the end anyway. i mean the point in abandonware is basically to get cool games for free. now i know, i know, keeping this site up is a hell lot of work and costs money and i am very thankful for the great job you guys do here, i appreciate the detailed reviews (and screenies) very much, too, but i don't really see the point in displaying more and more games one can't download besides bearing esa a grudge. :tai: maybe one could build a filter function or so to display only the 'free' ones... blah. (sorry if this issue has already been broached somewhere, but i couldn't find something alike.. =__=) |

they might become abandonware once again in few years and since there is review written, people can at least read review about the game..if download is impossible.
but hey, that idea about button filtering esa protected games is realy great i think "show all games" "show download-available games"

Maybe I'm wrong but I see Abandonia as becoming a museum of the gaming industry. A place where we can discuss and even experience the games that made the industry what it is. The games that have been part of our lives.
The extras, the reviews, and yes, the games themselves, all combine to make each "exhibit" an interesting stop on the tour that is Abandonia. What is so cool is that all of us are the curators in that we each play a part in adding to the whole. Thanks to Kosta for giving us a place to do this. OK, I'm done.

I once sented a suggestion to Horseman that we could add a "review only" text next to the names of those games which are ESA-protected.
EDIT: Yes, they didnt use the idea. |

As far as I know, such filtering will be made possible when the search engine is redone.
And no reviews for ESA'd and sold games are going to be removed till next glacial era in Hell. |

Meh.. You can see the status of the game when you seach for it. If you ignore the ESA or $$$ icon and let yourself be disappointed, you're clearly an idiot. And the point of this site is NOT to give freeloaders a chance to get good games for free. It's aim is preservation. If the game is sold, you should get it through legal channels, which we encourage!

mhhh...maybe you should try other sites...
Abandonia is a place where you can talk about old games and sometimes (if it's possible) download them...however the filter idea isn't so bad for people like you that don't want to see Esa protected games. I'm not one of them |

Anyway maybe you didn't notice that when games are listed a diskette icon means downloadable, an ESA logo icon ESA protected, and a $ icon on sale.

I dunno if it's just me but although I don't mind the reviews and lists of non abandoned games I don't really like clicking on games and being sent to moby games I dunno if they are just games you have not reviewed yet or something but I don't really like the moby site and although some games are listed as abandoned I can't find any kind of download link on moby
(appologies if any of you have links with moby!, I just don't like the site |
