[The Fifth Horseman] Centurion
Hello,
First of all, thank you, Abandonia, for setting up this forgotten games thread. I have been wracking my brain for the past month trying to figure out this game I watched a friend play, but never really played it myself. This was a graphical war game, and it battles fought were sword and shield battles. On the top of the screen there was were command buttons, clickable via mouse, and one of them said "Melee!" and another said "retreat". There were other buttons, but I don't remember them. The game view was top-diagonal with my army facing up and right, while the enemy army was facing bottom left. One strategy for the army which the player's army used was having the war general stay behind army, while the computer chose to send the general to the front of the troops, and on a horse with a sword in his hand. The computer's army would say before going to the war screen: "Then we are at war!" I saw this game in the late 90's, while I was still in early elementary school. As I remember, it was a DOS game played on a 286, but it could well be played on an Amiga. Thank you for your time. Cheers! |

I would be very surprised if Horseman were wrong on this Centurion... good times!
Didn't you remember it had the Roman Empire theme?

No doubts here! I wouldn't have guessed without "ancient Rome" hint.
http://www.mobygames.com/game/amiga/...eShotId,41466/ BTW, replacementdocs has German manual for it. |

You guys are awesome!!! Thank you... now I can actually try that game...
And I actually didn't remember at all the Roman theme. i never saw the Coliseum shot nor the centurions. However now I remember the war scene where the general is riding a chariot, so maybe that could have been a clue... Thanks again! Cheers. |

Oddly enough, chariot races can be your most important source of income at the start of the game.
I didn't remember the melee and retreat buttons at first (and IIRC now you have to press the right mouse button to bring the interface up), but for me the giveaway was that your army looks towards the top right and your enemy in the opposite direction, then I remembered those buttons and "Then we go to war!" Then I saw Horseman had beat me to it.
