Well, I can understand the fact that if someone admired the person in question, he pays a little tribute to him. What I can't understand is that if you didn't care, you are replying to this thread to say so.

PD: Blood-Pigggy, you are absolutely right. THAT is a tragedy.

What's even more amazing is that there's only a passing reference to his five year old son and his two friends, then it goes on to say "Colin was only 39".

Seriously, how *dirty word* retarded can you get.

Sometimes life is cruel, today you are a kid with a whole life in front of you and...damn...I hate this kind of things.
Rest in peace.

The sad part here is that people are only noting his death cause he had a game by his name. I wonder if anyone would notice if per say Juha Kankunnen would die, probably not and he won more championships than Colin McRae.

There is rarely a circumstance that permits this, and admins/mods edit this and warn me if you will but -

What the *meep*? It's a 5 year old child. Can you show some sympathy for that at all? Yeah, you don't care about him, fine, I see your point. How about the kid you insensitive clod?

Edit - Auto Edit. How cute. It was the F word just so you know.

Keep it civil guys.

I don't think Mayleyman meant it quite as bad as you took it, communicating over the internet and all. In any case keep it out of the memorial topic.

The way the media treats celebrities over ordinary people, especially around when they die, is certainly a topic worthy of discussion, just not here. I could spilt bits of this off and merge them with bits of the Pavarotti topic to keep the memorial topics "clean" if you'd like. Just post/PM me, it's what I'm here for.

I replied because I knew there would be a discussion and I kinda like them. There is not a lot of fast moving topics on the forum and since this is going to be my new squat I thought I may as well join in even if my opinion is different. That is what a discussion is all about really.

Try and relate the grief for any celebrity death that you have felt a need to mourn and then add the recent plane crash in Thailand to the thought process. Do you feel the same sense of grief for those on that plane? I will grant you that it is tragic when a young life is taken but that life is no less valuable than one that belonged to 'a nobody' on a plane in a foreign country.

I would of course be lying if I said I have sympathy, I have no connection to the event in order to allow me to share my feelings with his Family or Friends.

I'm with Marleyman here, call me a cold bastard but I just can't be emotional about an event hapenning so far away from me. If I would care about every death, where would I be? I would mourn all the time. I mean people they die every second, every three seconds a childe dies of hunger somewhere on the world and that is much more tragic than death of a rally driver. But does anybody care? No.

I'll save my emotions for when someone who is close to me dies.

of course no one cares. we dont' even know their name or what they did.

all in all there is a great poem by our poet called "The Cup of Immortality" (Čaša nesmrtnosti). and it teaches us that you only mean so much to people as your actions ment to them. and in doing important act you may become immortal. it's the only way (for now)

in analogy being hungry and starve to death because your parents decided life in desert would be nice won't really matter to others.

wheareas winning championship and making a (great) game with your name will increase your importance and maybe bring people closer to you. in this case many people enjoyed the game and also became quite familliar with his voice that guides you through the game. which made this person kind of important to them.

i won't cry over his death, but i will say: "crap, that was way too fast for this guy...after all his stunts, smashing into trees or brick wall at high speed in the end he fell off the sky in his helicopter. that just sucks."

Final destination?
