My computer is a Pentium 3 running Windows 2000. I have downloaded Indiana Jones and the last Crusade from this site. But Scummvm will not recognise it. Even when I drag the executable file INDY256 over to SCUMMVM executable Icon all I get is a quick window opening with some code before it vanishes. Whats going on and how can I get this file to work?

scummvm works with datafiles not with executables as far as I know.

you have to add the game and direct scummvm to the dir where the datafiles are stored for it to work

all scummvm supported games run far better in scummvm than dosbox.

depends on your pc specs though.
if you have a powerful pc then it doesn't matter.
