It does seem like a good idea:

A section called "In Loving Memory" (a classic line on a tombstone) and then have, as said, one character from a classic. Some examples:

Larry (from LSL)
Boo (from Baldur's Gate)
Green Tentacle (Day of the Tentacle)
Joey/Ken (robot Beneath A Steel Sky)
Duke Nukem
Doom space marine
Commander Keen
Dizzy
etc.

TONS of good characters to use. But like I said, it would take a good writer to pull it off.

I don't care where it's located, or even exactly how it's done, though. I was just giving an example of something I'd find nice.

Oh, and it wouldn't need an all that spectacular writer, though; It could just say ''In Loving Memory'', have a sprite under, and under that a few words that roughly defines that character's personality, or say whatever a character in the same game has said about or to him/her. If anything at all.

For an example:

It would screw with the layout though which I'm kind of worried about since a "corner" is easier said than done. The layout is already the biggest problem so far since it easily soaks up the most time to get done well (we're talking 40-50 hours per magazine easily) so anything that has to change existing layouts is a bit iffy for me. I'd rather add it on the comic/funny screenshots page where it would kinda fit in.

As you are talking about using Commander Keen for one of your articles, another idea came to my mind: The Dopefish and it's various appearances in gaming history. There a several games which refer to this character.

Mobygames has listed them as the Games with Dopefish - Collection.
