Maybe some people misinterpreted the "buy one get one free" sticker.

LOL you have to be careful about that kind of thing on ebay

it is in fact a budget label copy, and whoever bought it in the store couldve even got it free for buying 2 others LOL.

I suppose it's sort of similar to those 200-year-old bottles of burgundy which are sold at auctions. They're worth a bloody fortune, but no-one would ever dream of opening one to try what the wine actually tastes like. And that's probably a wise decision.
Although of course the wine would have tasted nice at some point, whereas the C64 game might have been crappy to begin with... LOL

OH well... It's a text based adventure, that only got a 4.5 score (on a scale from 1-10). But then again only two people have even voted...
On the other hand this game was downloaded 4808 times thus far from this site - and all for free!

Well, it's really all about its unopened status, I suppose. Same as with the wine bottles.

it must be a strange life as a c64 collector. 99% of your collection costing pennies, but then something like that costing you a thousand LOL.

Add to this how rare item is, and that is what makes it so expensive.
