I am also using the 5 original cd's for this. However my problem seems more irritating. I am running Win XP Pro 2002 edition. I try to install BG1, then it acts like it is installing then the install screen disappears, no error messeges or anything of the like. What do I do to actually get the disc to install?

It can happen that your autoexec.nt is corrupt or deleted (MS update?).
Try this to repair your autoexec.nt:
Put your XP install cd in the drive and use the 'run' command, input:

expand X:\i386\autoexec.nt_ c:\windows\system32\autoexec.nt

There are only 2 spaces:
expandspaceX:\i386\autoexec.nt_spacec:\windows\system32\autoexec.nt

The X is your CDDrive letter.
This will repair autoexec.nt.

If for some reason you don't have your cd, use notepad to create it.
That must be in it:

@echo off
lh %SystemRoot%\system32\mscdexnt.exe
lh %SystemRoot%\system32\redir
lh %SystemRoot%\system32\dosx
SET BLASTER=A220 I5 D1 P330 T3

Save it in c:\windows\system32\

That's enough to get basic dos support in XP so that you can use dosbased installers.
