The screenshots need fixing, mostly as the bottom of the HUD has been cropped out while in the Doom II review, you can see the entirety of the HUD.

I fancy a download link for the shareware episode would have been nice, especially since the page title says "Download DOOM".

I have advocated several times in the past in favor of hosting shareware episodes when they're complete (e.g. many games by Apogee/3DRealms, id Software...), as they're very different from demos or other crippleware, which I don't advocate for. But I seem to be the only one in the staff who thinks this way.

Can be easily added in extras. We agreed on that, Japo

I see no problem with us hosting shareware episodes as long as they are not under the main download link.

If server space may be a problem, you could always just put a link to a download elsewhere, should be no problem with most shareware titles, especially popular ones, or those that are still hosted by the developers (e.g. id Software's FTP, which also has quite a few mirrors, just take a look here).

It's just that some people might be unaware that they can try a game as a shareware episode or a demo before they buy the full version.

I think shareware (as opposed to demos) went greatly into disuse before games took too much space for us, specially if they have only one episode.

3drealms.com for example remains online with all the downloads despite the buyout, and we have some Apogee/3D Realms games. But as for Doom I guess we'll have to hunt for the archive as usual. Fortunately it won't be hard, if anyone present can provide it, please cough it up. What is that about id Soft's FTP?

Well, first off, RGB Classic Games has all the official releases of the shareware episode here:
http://www.classicdosgames.com/game/Doom.html

In addition, there are links to the leaked beta versions of the shareware episode between v1.2 and v1.9 in this post, kindly provided by Litude.

As for the id Software FTP mirrors, here are some:
ftp://archives.gamers.org/pub/idgames/idstuff/doom/
http://www.doomworld.com/idgames/ind...=idstuff/doom/
