I would suggest that we completelly remove all reviews for ESA protected games.

Why should we do so?

1. They are not supporting abandoware communities, why would we support them? (if they still sell the game, then that is another story, but most of the games available on this site is not still offered)

2. Those games listening will just bring people looking for those games, and soon you will have million of questions why or if they will be offered. I know admins can delete those questions, but why create unhappy community out of this happy one?

3. Even pictures can be count as property of thos companies. (Nintendo is for example forcing sites to pay them to have mario etc. pictures on their sites)

What do you think about this?

I think they should stay on the site. A review of a game is not a game but its better than nothing.

I totally disagree to this.

1. They're just doing their job, it's not like they're hating us or something. Also, this site was always very informative and having all reviews removed, just because ESA had a bad day is a really bad idea, imo.

2. Well, actually, If you try to download one of our "ESA-Games" you will be directed to a page, saying that Abandonia isn't allowed to offer these games. That should answer all questions. And I don't really care about ESA being so shitty. This site doesn't loose it's "greatness" just because you can't download everything anymore.

3. At this point, I actually have to agree, but I guess ESA will send another warning if there will be any problems with the screenshots.

Don't feel offended or anything, I just think there is way to much excitement about that whole ESA thing. muck happens sometimes, let just accept it, the Admins will know what to do. In the worst case we'll just have to live without the d/ls.

I agree very much with you Anubis i think they should all be removed or at least N\A added to the download size bit to save some time.

Don Andi,
I have to disagree with you that ESA is having a bad day.

I agree that we were wrong to host them, but I don't see a point to host reviews for the games in this case.

Why support those companies??

Since they did make awsom titles?
To provide information for our visitors?
In case we can make a deal of some sort (buy rights/redistribute)?
A number of other reasons?

Those games are not abandoned, so there is no point for them to be on abandonia.

And I don't think it would be a big deal to move titles back if we get any agreement.

Now, talking about those, do we have any agreements, and if yes, how they can be seen?

And may I also add:

What we are doing is illegal! No-one has a right to download old games freely from the net. You all act as if you DID have such a right. You don't, and sites like this one is illegal.

ESA decided that now was the time to have us remove the games, and so we did. Be happy that we were able to even host them in the first place.

The only thing this incident did to the site was in fact make it more legal.

And also... Titan's suspension warning is still in effect. We do not need people who badmouth ESA, or who demand that we either ignore ESA or boycott them.

Let that be the final warning.

Don't get me wrong.

I have nothing against ESA. They are doing their job, and that's fine.

I am against us hosting even review for ESA protected companies.

Let's be on safe side, and not even host review for such a games.

Also let's not forget that we offered support for those games, providing owners of such old games with help on how to run them on old or modern computers.

We were doing this for free.

I disagree with removing the reviews, people put a lot of work into those reviews, including me, by deleting those reviews A LOT of work would go down the drain.

There are 220 games, each of them had to be played and reviewed... how many hours does that add up to in total?
