You didn't change D:\\SHARE\\SOTHR to c:\\rats\\.

Best I upload the REG file with the values you have given. Just download the attachment, rename it from a TXT to a REG file, and execute it. Your Windows is under C:\Windows, isn't it?
Attached Files
File Type: txt SOTHR.txt (2.0 KB, 189 views)

Hi sorry said i was useless.

I have downloaded your attachment. the file attached was called something different so i deleted everything in my current file and copied everything from the attached into it. my file is called WHSHR.REG. My windows is c:\windows.

Still same problem though when i the mission loads i just have a black screen rather than a battlefield.

Just in case theres anything wrong the REG file says

The filename doesn't matter except for the REG extension, you have to execute the file in order that the entries get registered in your Windows registry. Double-click it or select it and press Enter or Return.

Since the solution with the registry isn't from me, I can't say much. Did you follow the installation instructions meticulously? (You did use our game archive, didn't you?):

#3. Unpack the game and 'Batch' extra, and move the whshr.bat file into the game directory.

#4. Run the whshr.bat file (DO NOT RUN WARSTART.EXE OR SETUP.EXE)

#5. First path - Enter in where you want the game to be installed. Example: c:\warhammer

#6. Second path - Enter in EXACT LOCATION of the installation files that you just unzipped. Example: c:\downloadedgames\warhammerSOTHR

#7. Installation should be complete. Go to wherever you just installed it, and set the WHSHR.EXE file to Run in 256 Color Mode.

#8. Run the game. If it ever complains about needing music or sound files right after the map screen just click OK to skip past them and you should be fine.

im sure i did.

decided to start from scratch and do everything it says, so i deleted everything and started again but still same problem.

Am using windows 7 to run the game.
As i said theres no error messages theres just no battlefield.
I havent played the game for 10 years but im sure at the start theres some sort of clip showing a rat doing something anyhow point is theres no footage it just skips to the title menu.

I have been trying for over 10 years to play this game again and never got this far! so annoyed im so close but cant play it.

I tried playing the game without being about to see the battlefield and it seems to be working fine played first 2 missions.

cant think of anything else that might be the reason why its not working

Indeed, works flawless in VPC-W98SE.

[Edit]
BTW, if you like that game you really should download the full game from the ISO cellar, much better then the rip.
Also: use the CD image.

I downloaded the Virtual Pc 2007 but i dont really know how to use it, i created a new virtual PC but when i run it, it seems to spend 2-3 mins trying to do something and then says

CLIENT MAC ADDR 00 03 FF 72 22 4E GUID F9515F75-15B4-6549-BE68-DA03112F1C95 DHCP ..... NO DHCP OR proxyDHCP offers were recieved

"Reboot and Select proper Boot Device or insert Boot media selected Boot device"

So i clearly havent set it up correctly and didnt for a second think i could

Thanks for your offer of advice but as i said before i know very little about this and so any detailed help if much appreciated.

You didn't set it up, period. Creating a new virtual machine is one part of the process; after that, you have to install the operating system in it.
