Vampire - The Masquerade - Redemption [GoG]
I've got an urge to play horror RPGs, preferably party-based ones, for the PC. Anyone got any suggestions? Thanks!

Vampire the Masquerade - Redemption is a really great one, imo. It's not scary or something, but it is at least horror-themed
I don't think it's abandonware however. And I can't think of any abandoned ones right now. I even can't think of any other horror RPGs (besides its sequel, but that is surely not abandonware) |

Thanks, I've heard a lot of good things about that one, but I was thinking more along the styling of "Legacy - Realms of Terror." Something like that, and perhaps even party based. It would help if it was abandonware, too, or even freeware.

Yeah I'm a big horror fan, but I don't know too many RPG ones. System Shock 2 as you probably know is an FPS/RPG combo, definitely is a horror one. While it's not horror per se, Fallout has zombies, monsters, and really bloody animations (there's even a trait you can pick in character creation to get more blood). And as somebody said, Redemption, although aside from a level or two, that one isn't very scary, it's more of a hack and slash game too with RPG elements. Sorry I'm not more help than that, I'll have to check out that Realms of Terror game.
Edit: Redemption and Fallout are both party based. Also, I remembered an old one called Bureau 13 that I think is party based. I never got far at all into it, so I can't vouch for it either way. |

Check out some of the 'Also Try'-games in the Legacy-Realms of Terror review. Waxworks (http://www.abandonia.com/games/689/Waxworks) seems to fit nicely. It's a hybrid adventure/RPG and definetely horror

It isnīt that scary. But itīs in the horror-genre and itīs quite fun to play... EDIT: Well, I just saw that thereīs another topic about scary games. Icewolf mentioned Veil of Darkness there quite a while before me. Sorry for that... |
