Although I drink coke and pepsi I don't get why it is such a big deal. It tastes just like it is burning your mouth.

 pepsi owns coke, after which your teeth feel like a chalk in milk btw we have some home-coke product in Slovakia like Cockta your country, and its called Kofola

Come to think of it, I heard there was some local equivalent in Poland too. Supposedly it was called "Polo-Cokta" and was quite awful.
