EDIT:

If anyone has trouble playing the game, make sure you edit the keeper.cfg file with notepad.

Change the directory to the directory you installed to.

To get sound effects, download the demo version from PC Gameworld (You don't need to download the entire demo if you can find a way to get the two sound files)

Install to a new directory, and copy the two files from the /sound directory to DK Gold's /sound directory.

Finally, if you want to play in Direct 3D, go to the /D3D-3DFX Fix and install the KeepD3D file.

Finaly finally, after you install that, go to your start menu, find Dungeon Keeper Direct 3D, right click on it and goto properties. Go to the compatibility tab, and change it to Windows 95. Save, and play!

Original message:

I got DK Gold from Home of the Underdogs. The game works fine, even Direct 3D mode (which is awesome). The intro movie had sound...

But during gameplay, I can't get the sound effects to work =(

Anybody get this to work? There's not really any sound config options besides volume adjusting!!

That´s a cd-rip DKG. So there aren´t any sound effects, but the intro music.
FreeFreddy had idea on how to fix this problem...

basically, HOTU ripped the sound out of the game and freefreddy has a idea on how he might be able to add sound to the HOTU version or make his own rip

I checked the sounds folder, and there's only the narration voice files for the stage selection area =(

Maybe all you gotta do to fix it is to replace the missing sound files?

Sorry to be ignorant, but who's FreeFreddy?

I found out how to fix it.

Download the Dungeon Keeper demo.

http://pcgameworld.megamirror.com/demos/dkdemo.zip

Install it into another directory.

Copy over the two files in the "sound" directory to your Dungeon Keeper gold directory.

Now you have sound!

I have downloaded DK from Home of the Underdogs too, but I cant play it. When I start the game, it is loading ok, but then I see the image of CD with question mark on it and the game needs cd. I dont get it, is this a cd rip version or not?

For anyone who needs sound for Dungeon Keeper I can offer a folder of my German version of it. You would just need to copy it over the Sound-folder of the game from HOTU. Keep in mind that the sound and mostly speech is in German then. :bye:

For english sounds, all you need to do is download the dungeon keeper demo and copy over the sound files
