Hello guys, welcome to the first Abandonia Ufo2000 tournament!

The game is a freeware addon made by the Ufo2000 crew (more info here) that allow us to play X-Com Ufo Enemy Unknown on multiplayer.

Our idea is a classic Tournament, if you win you can go ahead, if you lose you're out soon.
You don't need much time to participate, the game is turn by turn, you play the same way as a normal X-Com mission. Cool uh? :nuts:

If you want to participate please read carefully this topic and follow the points...and of course prepare for battle! :amused:

1) Installation Process:

First you need Ufo - Enemy Unknown on your computer, you need the Dos version, but unfortunately we can't provide a link because it's not Abandonware at the moment, after that you have to download Ufo2000. All the players should have the same version so please download it (Version 0.7.1062 Stable Candidate) from here => http://ufo2000.sourceforge.net/ or from my folder => Link

The hardest step (if we can call it hardest) is to select how Ufo2000 can find X-Com into your computer:

Use the first field and push the button on the right to browse the folder where your X-Com Enemy Unknown is situated.

Ok, we have done the first big step, now you can run the game.

2) Little Tutorial:

The first screenshot is the main menu, to do some practise select Start HotSeat game, you can play against a friend, a relative or simply against yourself, learn how things work and prepare the strongest team you can.

To be able to do that you'll have to study a bit the Mission Planner, the second and third screenshot represent two frames that allow you to decide rules and to place your units into your safe side of the map, besides you can equip them with several kind of weapons and armours and you can also choose the race of your soldier and change his abilities.
The last screenshot is a tipical battlefield view, to have a nicer game experience I suggest you to deselect from the options menu "enlarged battleview" and to select "Prefer x-Com graphics", the last one will set the panel to the original X-Com ufo Enemy Unknown graphics.

3) How to play on the internet against your friends and Abandonia members:

4) General rules & Matches Settings:

You can set gameplay rules into the Mission planner, look at the bottom of the page and edit options inside "Match Settings".

• Max 7000 Credits
• Random Maps (5x5 or 6x6)
• Gameplay: Deathmatch
• Max 6 Players (No need to set it)
• Ufo2000 weapon set (default one, we discovered you can't play with different weapon sets)

To convalidate the victory I need you to post a screenshoot of the score page, it looks like this one:

To do that you have to press "Stamp/Print Screen" (F12 won't work) on the score page, after that exit the game and save your image using a program such as Paint or Gimp: paste the picture and save it. (Possibly as .png)
You have to upload it here as attachement or with Imageshack (or similar).

If your opponent seems to have gone "MIA" (Missing in action) for a quite time (about two weeks for the first match and less for the others), and you wont be able to have your match, he will be disqualified.
In that case, for the first match, a new player will be able to join the Tournament and substitute him/her.

5) Prizes:

• 1st: 300 Pieces of Eights
• 2nd: 150 Pieces of Eights
• 3rd: 100 Pieces of Eights

If you want to play post here your will, we will create a list with the name of participants and matches into this topic, you have to organize the time of your battle by PM or using the Chatbox, may I ask you to be correct and loyal? We play just for fun, not to have fun of losers ok?

Sign me up. I just installed it and played a hotseat game against myself and I'm not sure if I won or lost

I've got a question though. I live in Taiwan so my timezone is a bit of a problem unless we have any Aussie or Asian players here. Basically when I'm sleeping everyone else is awake and viceversa. How are we going to set up these matches?

Edit: I know my location says United States but you guys didn't have Taiwan on you country list so I went with my home country:confused:
