Well, I think that this PC here could use one...

How much do they cost, in the first place? Cheap or expensive?

Also, do they require extra drivers (apart from those for USB devices, this computer is running W98SE, you know)?

First (you probably know full well), the win98 cd has drivers for hardware from major manufacturers.

Second (you probably know this full well too ), if you find a card you might want, the drivers you want (that is the updated ones) are most likely on the Internet for free dl.

Sorry if I missed the target but since we're talking 98, I think you'd need additional drivers

Cost: Depends on where you live and where you buy it (online or local store).

Thanks for the info.

I have - finally - found out the price, and it's not too high.

Now my only problem will be that I'll have to return to using the onboard graphics card in this PC (only one PCI slot, yeuch!).

Bought them. didnt' work properly. don't know why exactly. they were supposed to have WIN 98 drivers on the disk but the folder that should have them was empty. went online, but no drivers there for the card i bought. so i reported the company to some government inspection because they didn't want to give me my money back. they got penalised. but my USB card still doesn't work.

So which company is yours?

I'll be able to purchase it in about two weeks, until them my allowance is stretched pretty thin.
