Well like I said they are underground punk rock, they don't get as much publicity as other bands. Even though they ten times better than all the bands out there that claim they are punk. Blink 182, Good Charlotte, Simple Plan and so on are not punk rock. I'm a member of some forum on Hi5 about punk rock music and anyone who likes any of those crappy emo punk bands, I just give them so much muck and they get all deffensive saying they are punk rock, when the truth is they aren't. It's quite fun. k:

Without defending those bands: (i hate them..)

But Punk Rock is so wide area that even bands like those fell in that categorie...maybe they arent that extremly punk as you consider them but still it's punk with a little bit of rock in it (and a whole scala of POP infludence)

So you can still burn them to the ground but official it's Punk/rock...

No it's officially punk. Punk rock, pop punk, emo punk and hardcore punk are all sub genres of punk. So those bands are punk but they not punk rock they are emo punk.

Yeah it's emotional punk as far as I know.

From the discussions I have had, this is what I've found out.

Emo punk is about the lyrics, all these bands like Good Charlotte, Simple Plan, and even Blink now are all about emotional situations, such as break-ups with girlfriends. This is why they are referred as emo punk.

In my opinion the lyrics of bands that you ment there really sucks..

They cant write good lyrics (i always give a lot of attention to lyrics) and because they only talk about "things happen in life" doesnt make them good emo songs...

When you wanna hear brilliant lyrics go listen to:

Van Dik hout (damm..it's dutch...you wont understand it :not_ok: )

Alanis Morrisette (Great lyrics...specially on the 2 first albums...)

Metallica (such a great lyrics...again specially albums 1 till 5 )

I don't know about Metallica's lyrics but their best albums are deffinently the first 5. I'm no big fan of Metallica but I have heard enough to realise this.

I don't quite care for lyrics. As long as they flow with the music, they fine. But the meaning behind the lyrics I'm not interested in. But these emo bands play a little slower than the bands I listen to, that is the main reason I don't like them.

But because the lyrics are about those situations, they are labelled emo. But I can not be too sure about this. I admit I don't know enough on the topic to back this up completely. This is just the impression I get from conversations I have had.
