Right, I've put this in the Dune 2 thread in Games disussions as well, but I suppose this is where I should really post it.
As with many games on my XP Pro, the MIDI music in Dune 2 didn't work unless I used VMD Sound. However, yesterday I found a patch that was apparently released by Westwood that allows you to select different devides for different types of sound in the game, and they actually added an option for SB MIDI called "Sound Canvas." which works in XP. Really handy patch... I'd suggest putting it in the download. It overwrites setup.exe and setupeng.dip http://www.dune2k.com/?page=files-duneII btw, I also noticed the Dune2 download contained a file called XTRE.PAK which is nothing more than a copy of ATRE.PAK. There's no reason for it to be there... I'd say delete it. It's almost half a megabyte that's really not doing anything. |
