Default Text-based wizard apprentice game

Hi,

I remember playing a text based game where you were a wizard's apprentice. I never got very far. I always ended up in a tomb or coffin where I could not move or speak and then bugs came down and devoured me to my bones and that kept repeating. Thanks.

Rayne

Dude - that narrows the search down to only "loads".

Are you just looking for any old Wizard's Apprentice text game (that's: Interactive Fiction, Rayne!), or one in particular?

I don't recognise the description about "bugs devouring you to your bones". I'm sure that would stick out in memory.

Was it a DOS game or Apple or Archemedes or Mac or TADS or Unix or OS/2 or Windows?

It wasn't called Eamon's Main Hall and Beginners Cave or something like that was it?
Or one of the Spellcasting series. They were sort of university boob games... Text based excuses for poor plot and a few pictures of geeks with chicks.

It isn't one of the Spellcasting games. I've played them all and there is no such situation as he describes.

... And: the Spellcasting series is not at all as you say Saccade, it was very popular in it's day and was made by one of the most brilliant minds in the history of gaming.

Definitely no pictures. I don't recognize any of the names you mentioned.

Now that I think way back, I think I played the game on my high school's networked TRS-80's. Just plain green screen. Were those not old technology even in 1986? Anyway, I found a download of Eamon's Main Hall so I will give that a try and see that is it. I'll let ya know.

Wizard? Apprentice? TRS-80?

Sorceror of Claymorgue Castle [2]?

Tomb or coffin etc.? No.

Forget that, colours are important, so it's Tower of Fear.

Maybe he meant that it happened IRL when playing the game.

I've given up. Don't worry. My OCD has moved me on to other things. Thanks for all your help.
