After reading the game page wanted to tryout the 'joy_to_key' prog in dosbox on that game, makes your keyboard behave as joystick.
But:

Additionally, a 403 Forbidden error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
Das ist verbotten?

Didn't need the 'joytokey' afterall, this is how keyb commands works:
G for gas
B for brake
Arrow keys for direction
Spacebar to get in gear and gear further up up.
Needed to get launched @start.-(also needed after a stall)-

Must also be somewher a gear down ... didn't found it yet.

In other words, you only can racing using the keyb -(as far as I can see)- when you hit spacebar first to get in gear.

FYI: dosbox 0.72, -(no frontend )-.

The only way I've found to gear down is :
Cut the gas completely and tick on B, that way you can go down in gear.
Open the gas again as soon as you're in the appropiate gear or your engine stalls, the bitch.

With a bit of fingerspitzgefühl it's doable without coming to a complete standstill or without stalling your engine.

Hard to hear in what gear you are, but squint in the right upper corner, the gear you're in is listed up there.

Kinda shitty to do, needless to say, but didn't found a better handling.

Hey don't complain, if a 52 years ol'wreck can do it, you can.

And nope, doesn't seem to be an automatic gearbox, real man don't use those.

Default Gear down

Yeah, you can gear down (the same way you can gear up), push B then Spacebar. Works for me!

Cool game btw!

Question Quit?

By the way: did any of you guys discover how to quit from a race? :wondering:

On a note, the game is funny but quite hard. I only tried practice races. I can take the curves in 4th gear (mostly :laugh, but the opponents whooosh past me like lightning.

I use to own this game. It came in some "Powerhits Sports" pack or some such thing. Next time I visit my parents house I'll see if the manual is kicking around anywhere.

You might try a different engine type if they're blazing past you though. And adjusting your turning radius.

You can double tap the arrow keys to make a sharp turn.
