Well, after all all the programs Bill Gates "owns" were programmed by some other people. Ms-Dos was also programmed by some guy who even didn't know what he created. Gated gave him some money and bought Ms-Dos off. In contrast to the programmer Bill Gates knew what he was going to buy. That's where his career began...
