In real life it's a bit more difficult to be mistaken, since at least 90% of girls don't grow a goatee.
But if your long hair covers the goatee, people might actually be mistaken!!

It happened a few times to me while I was delivering pizzas. I used to have long hair and so I had it in a ponytail. Well one time I had a delivery and a little girl answered the door. Well her brother went and got their mum, and then the little girl asked inquisitively: "Are you a girl?"... And I was like "No...", And then she asked "Are you a boy?", and I was like "Um, yes". It was just really funny by the way she said it, like little kids do when they ask a question.

Actually that happened to me once, I was smoking a joint out the back door of a cottage on holiday and a small child asked me if I was a girl. To be fair, I did have longish hair and painted nails, though.

LOL

I've never been mistake for a girl, my hair's way too short, and I had a beard for ages.

But I have been called a girl on many occasions

as in "Don't be such a girl" or.. "you run like a girl" :tai:
