I think my list is smaller if I put game music artists instead of games :P

These are imho the best:
- Frank Klepacki (C&C, Dune, Kyrandia, etc.)
- Allister Brimble (Alien Breed, Superfrog, X-Com Terror from the Deep, Locomotion and many more)
- Alexander Brandon (Deus Ex, Jazz Jackrabbit 1/2, Unreal, UT)

Other good music is Halo series, FF7, Stacraft, X-Com: UFO Defense PSX, Unreal / Unreal Tournament series.

All this off the top of my head, otherwise I'd write one huge post :P

How could I forget the brilliant "Last Ninja II"-soundtrack?

I can't believe nobody's mentioned WipeOut yet. Some of the stuff in that was good.

Tribes 2 had some decent music too. Deus Ex's UNATCO base music was pretty good too, the rest is OK too.

Hmm

As a Nine Inch Nails fan I have to admit the Quake soundtrack was incredibly atmospheric, even though I didn't like the game half as much as Doom.

I liked the Unreal soundtrack as well, it was the first time I encountered music that got more tense when approaching an enemy and it worked awfully well somehow.

And offcourse the Monkey Island (1&2) tunes, the evergreens in the adventrure gaming industry.

And I will never forget the tune of Alley Cat, no matter how crappy it sounds.

Oh yeah, Jazz Jackrabbit 1 & 2 have got some great catchy music as well

I've got taste I have

Well it's not actually ingame music, but I'd have to go with The 7th Guest! The songs: The Game and Skeletons in my closet are really excelent. They're on the soundtrack on the second CD.

BTW - if you don't know the songs: Skeletons in My Closet and The Game

Homeworld has some great music, particularly Samuel Barber's Agnus Dei (aka Adagio for Strings without the strings).

Nobody's mentioned Total Annihilation yet - that has some amazing compositions, not to mention a great dynamic system so the music would alter depending on what was happening in the game - one of the first times that was done if I'm not mistaken, certainly in an RTS. You could even put in your own CDs and set the tracks to correspond to different events in the game.

The first 2 C&C games have some ace comedy industrial music, but I think the inadvertently comedy (yet also good) game music crown goes to Incubation; it shipped with an extra CD of the game soundtrack plus some bits of techno which vaguely tied into the theme. Brilliant.
