I was wondering with my system is it worth buying doom 3 or Half Life 2 will run on my computer. I have a intel pentium 4 2. somthing gigheritz cpu and a gforcefx 5200 graphics card and 512 megs of ram. Thank you.

HL2 Should run on that (it runs on mine - AMD Sempron 2800+ 1.6ghz, GEForce FX 5200 SE, 512mb RAM) but one piece of advice - if you can "patch" it to avoid steam usage, DO IT! (not for illegal purposes, just steam is a load of crap)

the system that valve use to distribute updates etc but it also means you have to be online to play the game thats registered with it (i.e. half life 2) even if you just want to play single player *kill valve* which is why i hate it so much (plus its so buggy and bloats your hl install)

I'll tell you something about Half Life 2 - it's incredibly hard to steal off the internet for free. Damned anti-piracy. :P

Could someone please tell me if doom 3 is going to run on my pc at any kind of dencent speed or graphic capbilities? I guessing that I need a way better graphics card for this game though.

I got GeForce FX 5500 and Doom3 sucks on it (max 30fps), go get a GeForce 7900GT - if you want it running like 140fps.

You could try Painkiller as BP said - it pwns.

I would have though my little system would be a little more boss if I was sproting a GeForce Fx 5500 graphics card. Yet it still sucks on doom 3 wow that game requrises a heck of lot of power to run. Then screw doom. Then sometime in the year 2009 I will buy it for xbox when it is like 3bucks.

I have herd great thing about PainKiller. That is definetly on my to get list sometime time in the near future. Thank you all.
