Thumbs up

I know a lot of time Hollywood version of history is a bit different then real history (which in most cases is not that much heroic).

Friend of mine saw Alexander the Great movie and he was shocked that they represent Alexander as gay.

I can't remember I ever found single thing about this, and I have read a lot of history books. Anyone know anything more about this?

Frankly i'm surprised they showed Alexander the Great as a homosexual since its usually quite unlike hollywood to do so.
He was indeed a homosexual. I think we look at it in the wrong way since it was normal back then to be a homosexual.
Alexander the great's father had sex with a manservant in public, this servant later killed him.

Exactly. And don't forget that armies in that time were all without exception made of males. Some of them just had to let their "urges" go, and there was nothing around than other swordmates around... So...

Not to mention that most of the time they fought with nothing more than a helm and breastplate on... the rest of the year they'd wear a skirt.
ofcoarse these things were omitted in movies like Troy.

A few years ago I had an openly gay history teacher (one of the best teachers i ever had) and he would constantly talk about all the nasty little homosexual details.

Like, for example, the greek teachers who would give lectures to anybody willing to listen. History tells us these lectures were free... ofcoarse, according to our teacher, it wasn't exactly free since the teacher would often "fondle his students under their toga" as the teacher put it.

But then monotheism came to Europe and put a stop to all that by giving people taboos. Thank you almighty church!

Even King David was possibly a homosexual, it says so in the Torah.
Usually when it says "and they kissed" in the bible it means far more than that.

At one point David and Jonathan (the son of King Saul) "embrase and kiss for their love was strong" just before David flees fearing Saul's wrath.
Their love went so far that Jonathan gave his own life for David.

Homosexuality is a tricky subject in Jewish religion since it IS allowed to love another man like one loves a woman. But it is not allowed to spill ones seed. Thus the relationship would have to be a non sexual one... which i think is impossible.

But yet there you have it.

Well in the bible - everytime you see a referance that two people knew each other - it means that they had an intercourse!!! Don't believe me, just go and ask any respectable theology professor...

That is true.
It is written "ve adam jadah et hava began eden"
jadah means "to know" the entire sentance means "and adam had already known even in the garden of Eden"

But the entire David/Jonathan part is way more explicit. Something about their two souls becoming one and Jonathan stripping off his garments and stuff like that (bit hazy on the subject)

ofcoarse to find a detailed report on the subject is difficult because most text written about the subjects are by christians who very much oppose the entire homosexual implications.

True,...
Never understood why though. The first powerful chritians were the Romans - and they themselves had many homosexual orgies...
Oh well. I guess we're a bit
BTW - how does Holywood change the history - they LIE!
