I really enjoy them. They're the same as a discussion forum, but you get to vote as well. Some folk who might be lurkers, and too shy to take part in a discussion, can voice their opinions this way.

THey are good in my opinion. If they keep getting out of hand, then I suggest having a separate section for polls. I have seen this on another forum I go to, and I think it works well. Although you do get some pretty crazy polls.

I think the poll ideas are good, and most of the time they provide for some interesting incites into certain topics, plus with the voting it helps out get a general sense of some ideas.

I like polls...granted I've only been here since Monday, but there have been quite a few polls since then. It shows peoples' opinions, and then ends up in discussion. The whole forum is basically about opinion, am I right?

personally, I prefer the light hearted, "junk" polls if you will, to the serious ones, because in the serious ones a flame war almost always starts, and everyone takes things personally.
