(very) Old Dos Game - like Crusader Kings
A simple game with nice 2d graphics for the time, you played as a feudal lord and could conquest other lands and give provinces to your under lords - or leave the conquered lord in place of his realm - as your vassal, they could also rebel ( I think there was a loyalty indicator)
A nice feature for the time was that the world map was randomly created - with interesting shapes. Graphics where simple but very nice -- I remember especially the portraits of the lords where very good. This game came with 5 1/2 disks, should be around 1990-1992 Edit: The mapgenerator was unique for that time as it procedurally generated the map - first mountains, then hills, grassland ect… that was the first time I saw this. Sounds like Lords of the Realm or one of the sequels, except for the random map generation. Perhaps look by similar/recommended games...

I begin to suspect that this was not even an offical release, but sold independently by the local game shop, since i have been looking for that game for over a decade now... |

On the left side there was the main map, you could choose to show the political layer (colors for provinces) or the geography.
The right side showed the details of the selected province, along with a portrait of the ruler (simple 2d graphics, but nicely done) As far as I remember there was only one troop type, maybe 2 (infantry/ carvery of only infantry) Edit: I already looked through all games on abandonia (and other sites) several times over the years... |

No, it was not real time and strictly 2d -- it was a lot like crusader kings |
