Hum, nice topic. Btw, anyone has a link for a BIOS upgrade on an old i440lx-w977tf motherboard? I already checked a few but the damn BIOS "refuses" to be upgraded

EDIT: never mind, that damned bios couldn't resist me forever, so I just did what I wanted to do

Here's something worth attention:

http://oldfiles.org.uk/powerload/

Multiple things for DOS, Win3.1 and 9x, including (at last) those frigging USB drivers and lots of valuable tech knowledge.

I've been tempted many times to buy an older model laptop off eBay, like a Pentium 133 or something, and set it up with DOS just so I can play my old school games without having to tweak DOSbox or any of that. Has anybody else here ever done this?

I haven't done that, but I have bought a rare old 8086 from eBay. It's a Zenith SuperSport laptop. It doesn't have a hard disk - just 2 720k floppy drives. I'm getting a Xircom parallel port ethernet adaptor soon, so I can connect it to the internet. It should also be OK to run old DOS games like ZZT and Megazeux.
