I'm actually wearing a NOTD tee right now. Yea, it's freaking hilarious at most points. Great film.

You really can't compare the films...
It's like comparing HL2 to Doom.
One is light-years ahead of its time, with a fully fledged studio budget, and the other is a black and white budget film.

And saying "the budget makes it all the better" makes absolutly no sense, a bigger budget makes a film with much better production values, regardless of acting quality or camera style.

Gladiator isn't better than Alien.
In fact, so many people would agree with me, that's why it's past the top 50 on IMDB.

Classic B horror flics aren't really supposed to be scarey. NOTLD has been regarded as classic B horror for decades now. With this in mind, even tho' Aliens is in fact scifi suspence, I'd rank it as more "horrific" then NOTLD. NOTLD is fricking fun to watch tho.

When battling zombies, you are still battleing something that is somewhat recognizable. I would think the mere sight of an alien would shock someone to the point that they may not even think about defending themself.. Swat teams work off of this premis.

Not to mention the intellect and verosity of an alien. Zombies are basically dumb hungery cannibals. I like to think either a decapitation would be instinctual in myself. That or, aka Halflife 2, amputate both legs and blow the torso up with a frag grenade.

I'd be interested to know the difference of budget in exact figures. I'm sure they are quite diametric.

Alien: $11,000,000
That was 1979

NOTD: $114,000
That was 1968

So... NOTD wasn't actually "low" budget, in fact, it was a pretty normal budget, considering that the movie had a higher amount of cash used than Evil Dead, which was produced in 1981, and these were during the years that movie budgets DRAMATICLY increased.
Alien managed to accomplish alot with that budget, the director said he was amazed that they could actually pull it off with a lower than usual studio budget.
