I just bought a copy of Dawn of War and am mortified at how poorly the manual was translated. Many, many mistakes totally killing off the spirit of the game. Now, a friend of mine has a (pirated) copy of the fully English version... I've been thinking of a little Dr. Filenstein operation to swap the subtitle files for ones from his game, but I've been told that doing so would break the End User Licence Agreement.

I have two choices:
1. Do the operation and break the licence.
2. Stay on the good side and suffer from painfully inadequate translation.

What should I do?

Go ahead. If they complain, complain back that they should've given you quality for your money, and that, if you fix that for them, they shouldn't whine, as you're doing their job. You could even try to demand payment for it :bleh:

Do how ever you want... But if I'd have the same problem I would break it. Actually I have done same kind of thing with fallout 2, since all children had been "removed" from european version and that caused some problems... Like invicible kids pickpocketing stuff.

You already bought the copy, so you should have that already... if you don' t have it, that' s their mistake, not yours....

Althow some people may think you are breaking the EULA rules, your friend has done worst, that is, having a "pirated" copy if it.... So I say: go ahead - I would. But at the end it is up to you to decide.

Is this about the manual or subtitles in the game?
If it's the manual, do a google search for the pdf version.
If its the subtitles... ummm, it doesn't really break the EULA because it can't be proven. You'd only modify the files that have been installed on your HD. If you uninstall and reinstall the game, the crappily translated subtitles will be back as if nothing had happened.

Am I missing something?

If your friend got a better version of the same thing, you should complain.
I would change the file anyway... I'm not sure how this could break the EULA

Do whatever you want (as always), but, do not break the EULA. I am sure that Abandonia does not suggest you to break anything. :-)
