After seing some have trouble mounting a folder in DOSBox, I wrote this little text. It seems however that some find this text a bit confusing, so feel free to suggest what can be re-phrased.

DISCLAIMER: This was written in a couple of minutes out of how I believe this whole thing works, so feel free also, to correct me if I'm wrong at certain places. Until the final version of this is posted, by all means read it, but don't take it as gospel.

I attach it as a text file. This way you can add/remove/clarify at your hearts' delight.

Thanks for poiting it out but I would suggest to use a front-end. The DosBox official Website has a great list of most updated tool for any supported platform.
I tried the ones for OSX and Dapplegrey looks so good.

Nice one Mighty Midget

I'm not a fan of front end's for DOSbox because I get all nostalgic for that long time past when you did everything in dos. None of this newfangled OS stuff. Jeeze, what will come next? A man on the moon?!!

Hi!

I'm currently looking at this file with 1024 x 768 (school-laptop).

It's a bit uncomrtable to look at it since it's written wider than the screen borders.

If you want to insert an "enter" to shorten the lines, by all means feel free to do so. That's what I do anyway, everytime I read a notepad doc with lines too long for my monitor.

Icewolf, if you're using Windows' Notepad there's an option under the Format menu for that.

@MM: Nice, even if most newbies will prefer frontends, this will help the ones seeking higher knowledge as Lulu pointed out. I also can't live without the nostalgic sensation the DOS command prompt gives me.

And I was trying to dumb it down a bit, explaining in plain English what mount meant so people would stop getting it wrong LOL

Ok, if it's not dumbed down enough, I sure would appreciate any suggestions on how to do just that.

Neither am I, altough I'm considering giving D.O.G and DBGL a try.

Right now, it's easy enough to create customized configs and shortcuts to run specific games with no need for a frontend.

@Fifth: Everything is easy if you know what you're doing and how to do it. The point is that so many are having problems with understanding basic concepts and commands. So I wrote this text as a remedy for those who still wonder what mount means, and I would think that other topics, such as "how to create a shortcut"and "customized shortcuts" would also be useful. I, for one would certainly read those guides.
