anyone know if u can get frontier: elite 2 (amiga) for the pc????

many happy hours playing that game.

my speciality was destroying the police forces of entire planets. used to get a big old spaceship, slap on a whole load of shield generators, lasers and missiles and reign destruction on the f*****s.

hahahaha

misspent youth????? i think not!!

Or try the even better First Encounters, which is actually the same game, but with a (sort of) storyline to follow when you like and very special missions plus enhanced GFX. There is actually a Re-Engineered version named JJFFE.
Try google it or sumthin. This was made especially for windows

I actually preferred both Freelancer and X2 to those games. Both were utterly brilliant and very, very well made.

Although X2's plot was lame.

In fact, Freelancer was better.

I tried Freelancer (and also Privateer 2 a few years ago). Nice graphics but doesn't do it for me I'm still waiting for THE Elite 2 beater. I don't care for ANY story. I don't care if the graphics are crap (better if they're not). I want it entirely left open to travel the entire universe, and a zillion things to do (and everything should be possible to do, unlike Elite 2) hehe

battlecruiser is cool, go for the gold edition, maybe buy it from them, at least that way you get all the patches only gripes i got with it is it wont work str8 from the box unpatched, an the radar is an awwfull 2d thing, the elite 2 radar is better!! an battlecruiser is from 2003!! u can go into roam the universe mode in it though.
the other game u wanna check out an definatly one that will fullfill your needs is eve, eve is like the space mmporg tradin an fightin game. i got it but i had mah credit cards sliced so im stayin away from it for now

Freelancer better than Elite 2 or FFE? YOU, sir, are on CRACK. Freelancer was fun, but had NO dynamic economy, NO non-combat missions, NO reason to get a freighter...need I go on? The only way to really make money in FF was to take repetative combat missions and sell the crap you find. Freelancer isn't really a space sim, it's like diablo in space, only your character is actually a ship.

Yeah, check EVE Online out if you like falling asleep at the screen, or if you like a little interactivity with your screensaver. You want the REAL Elite-type MMO, take a look at Jumpgate, a game I've been playing for 4 years, and one that will give your joystick a workout rather than your mouse

Oh, here's my review of the game, to give you an idea of what it's like:

Enjoy!

Now.. That does look good.

Eve Online does get a bit tiresome, especially back in the days where all you would do was mine, mine and mine. I always wanted it to be more like the Elite games
