I'm currently playing The Secrets of Monkey Island, but the sound bugs me at times and I would like the option to turn it off, but I don't know how to do it. Does any of you know?

What operating system are you using? If any of the Windows versions, I suggest you use ScummVM (a program that will run heaps of old LucasArts adventure games and a few more, on modern sytems). You can find a link to ScummVM via Abandonia's main page.

Yeah, ScummVM fixes most of the problems in the old LucasArts games. It makes it easier to play all of the old games.
