Hey there. I've been searching for some answers for this for a long time, and I can't seem to find any.
I've tried to run Abuse on DosBox, and it shows this error message after trying to load it up:
"Unable to open cache file for compiled code. Please delete all files named lcachexx.tmp and make sure you have written permission to directory (C:\)"
I didn't find any files named "lcachexx.tmp".
On the windows version of Abuse I did find one, "lcache01.tmp", the game ran normally, but slow as hell.
Also, I tried to run it on VDMSound, only to find it running on absurd speeds.

If anyone could find any solution to any of these problems I would be very grateful. I just wanna play it, doesn't matter which version and what program.

I'm running DosBox 0.71, my CPU specs:P4 2.40 GHz, 512mb RAM, 128mb video card, WinXP.
Thanks.

I've tried a few other games, Darkseed, Ultima 8: Pagan, Syndicate...everything ran perfectly. No, I'm not guest at this computer.

When running Abuse in DOSBox:
1. Use Dynamic Core.
2. Increase the cycles. Don't rely on the max value autodetected by DOSBox but use the Windows' resource monitor running in background and DOSBox running in fullscreen mode. Then increase the cycles to gauge the maximum value for your PC (CPU usage should be just under 100 %)
3. Increase frameskip.
4. Disable graphic scalers
5. Set output to DirectDraw (output=ddraw)

The problem on DOSbox isn't really about that...but thanks anyways, allready changed the settings.
