Ever heard of the Windows N editions?
These were windowses WITHOUT Mediaplayer, because Microsoft had been penalized for it's monopoly on it.

I would hardly call offering a service with Windows a monopoly. There are many other services out there as well provided free of charge to compete with it.
Same goes with Microsoft Security Essentials, not included with Windows cause Norton and Macafee felt threatened by it. Which is just stupid, if you are going to charge people for something and someone else can do better then you for free maybe you should get cracking on earning that money people are paying you. Not to mention the amount you pay for windows I would bloody expect some nice programs with it. |

"Bloody nice programs" you say?

I kept on expecting "But wait there's more a free set of STEAK KNIFES!!!!"
And the standard programs with Windows aren't the best of the best but they do their jobs well and I sure as hell wouldn't pay the price windows costs without them (heck I would like even more for the money really). |

I had to upgrade from FF1 to FF3 because it crashed on more and more sites. Now it's the same thing with FF4. If I was paranoid, I would think Mozilla is making that to force me into the newest version.

The "disgruntled" users of Windows are divided into two groups: the ones who have tried alternative OSes and haven't liked them, and the ones who don't even want to try; of course all of you know there are alternatives, you just don't like them any better, on the contrary. As for the programs included in Windows, of course recently US and specially EU governments have imposed restrictions on Microsoft to "defend competition" (punish economic success), as well as multi-million fines. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/ie/ff606439 But the fact that Windows still comes bundled with less functional software than any Linux distro is actually related to its success--not as cause and effect, but as effects of the same cause. Windows was designed from the start as a platform for developers to make their applications as easily as possible, and it relies on them to provide those applications, instead of Microsoft alone. This paradigm works, and everyone knows the amount of software available for Windows (and nowadays .NET) is an order of magnitude higher than for any other platform. If you developed for Microsoft platforms you'd realize the huge amount of expensive assets and services Microsoft provides for free so that you develop for their platform, and how badly you're left out in the cold in comparison when you develop for any other. And end users don't realize it, but developers usually have the greater say on which platform will become widespread, since end users will also prefer the platform that has the greatest choice of applications. It's ironic that the fact that an OS without applications is useless, means that the OS which comes initially bundled with fewer or hardly any application is the one preferred by most people (as much as they like to complain, just like they would complain of any other OS).

I'd even go as far as to take a wild guess and say that those crashes might be more related to bad site construction than the browser itself. And this problem sure plagued the net continuously since its creation. Quote:

On the point of poor countries happy to receive the workflow of other countries, that's most certainly true. The whole problem doesn't originate from them at all though and they really are getting the better part of the deal. I'd say they don't really have a say in the matter, especially since they never actually created wealth but rather simply inherited of the wealth of another nation. This is simply a direct transfer, how can you be proud of that short of being able to say that you managed to up your living standard by stealing it from others? I would address your statements, but I'm too busy rolling around in my giant pile of money and being fanned by third world slaves.
