I really must have the compressing utility then

The version at HOTU is a download of 111 mb, and really does claim to be a full version.

Hmmm...VERY Odd. The version here is smaller, has few voices, and no commentary about the game history, and the version at HOTU is BIGGER< has the same exact voices, at the same exact places as this one (No more, no less) and has no commentary. However the ISO has the nearly the same amount of memory as the one from HOTU, and has ALL the voices, and the commentary.... :eeeeeh: So, what the fffff? Guess they ripped the CD version and coincidentally it was the same as the floppy version LOL

Lands of Lore is a great game indeed, but i encountered another copy-protection:

In the white tower basement, the ghost of an old woman asks you about the word of faith, which can be found on pageX lineX wordX in the Book of Lore.
I remember this book: (curse me that I haven't got my original CD Version anymore) It dealt with the creatures and the history of the lands.
If anyone could upload the book just like the manual, this would be great!
Otherwise I cannot play any further

The version here is the US floppy version. AFAIK HOTU provides some CD-rip, as the original ISO has about 150 MB. Alas, I don't know the HOTU-version, so I can't tell which parts got ripped off. (We all know about HOTU's download ratios and the bittorrent links aren't really faster).

Hi guys, it really seems i can't make this game work. After i download it i can only select the player because as soon as i choose the dude to play with and click to go ahead and start the quest....i got the screen all black and thanks for coming out..!
I see you talked about it before and some guy posted a link to a patch and i downloaded it as well...what now? Will u be so kind to tell me exactly what i have to do to be able playing this game on my dumb behind pentium? Thanks.
Okay, I can't promise this will help you, but it worked for me, so here goes:

1) Download the patch from the site I linked to. Make sure it's the US version.
2) Extract the zip file to the game directory and run the PATCH.exe file.
3) Run setup.exe with VDMSound and choose Soundblaster Pro.
4) Run Lands.exe with VDMSound.

I got the black screen before patching the game, and it worked after patching it, so I think this should work for you too. If it does, please let us know, because then it would probably be a good idea to include the patch in the download, or at least link to it on the game page.
