Default In Search of PC Gaming Tat

Hi folks. Sorry if I've got the wrong forum for this - I wasn't sure where best to put it. It's a quickie, so I'll keep it brief. I'm putting together something for PC Gamer on classic gaming tat - cool cardboard boxes, tchotchkes, feelies and so on, and I'm trying to track down as many interesting ones that I can get photographs of as possible. I figured if anyone was going to have a cupboard full of that kind of stuff, it'd be you guys! It can be more or less anything from the old Ultima cloth maps to the weird boxes of DOTT/Gabriel Knight, to feelies like the old Infocom Zorkmids. Awesomely good, hilariously crap, incredibly inventive... all are cool, just as long as they're interesting :-)

If you've got any good ones on hand and access to a camera to take a couple of quick snaps for me, could you drop me a line? My e-mail address is [EDITED] Cheers!

Yeah, I really miss this kind of stuff. Unfortunately I don't have any really good bits myself (aside from some novelisations and similar) since a lot of it got lost during a move a few years back. There's no arguing that DVD cases are more CONVENIENT, but I miss having a big box full of stuff to rip open, things like Ultima VII coming with a manual written from the baddies' point of view, Galactic Enquirer in Space Quest V, and so on. I'm not going to pay for a Special Edition of something to get a Pip-Boy clock and such, but free tat was always neat to find.

The people to speak to, the main collectors, are Red Avatar, Ermuli, and Geezer. I'm not sure who else has a massive collection, but Red has mentioned the notebook and pencil from the first Laura Bow game, for example.

Cool, cheers! I know Red from elsewhere, and I'll drop the others a line.

Professor Oak has a big collection too as far as I know, he would be worth asking too

I see an inundation of Monkey Island Pirate Wheels in your future...

EDIT: I'm crossing my fingers that someone out there has the complete documentation to both Sierra "Conquest Of" games by Christie Marx. I'd love to see that again.

Hahahaha I'd never thought of Longbow like that, but damn, very fair point. I guess I liked the maps and gem language stuff so much that my young self ignored it.

It was more irksome when you didn't have the paper manuals to hand. For... uh... some reason. (*cough*) Awesome game though. It's on my list to do for Gamer's Crap Shoot column, mostly for the morality system.
