What about Unreal co-op? not abandoned but....

Or Diablo 2. easy to play, but not a freeware.

then there are games like cyber dogs, cyber dogs 2 (played on same keyboard), liero <<--- simple and freeware

I like Bomberman (the first, original, edition) too :P As far as I see... do you can give a touch also to Columns

this one i can also recommend - you can play as a team or be hostile to other players. Been there, done that

i dont know, when we tried to set bomberman up, it always gave us some kind of network errors

I played polish version - Dyna Blaster. It was OK.

A little off topic - once upon a time, there was a (also polish) game called Target. It was FPS with special MP option - split-screen k: As far as I know it was the only FPS game with this kind of multiplayer option
