Look into your CONFIG.SYS and delete the parameter NOEMS after DEVICE=C:\DOS\EMM386.EXE.

Exact text of the error and specs of the computer, please.
Also: are you running it directly from Windows or rebooting into DOS first? |

I've tried run it from DOS and Windows.
Darklands requires 590428 bytes (576k) of convenyional memory. Your machine has only 564928 bytes (551k) of conventional memory. Therefore, you need to free an additional 25500 bytes (24k). |

if you are not able to make the game work in windows 98, why won't you just use dosbox
btw you could also try using bootdisk from abandonia

i've tried in win 98 AND in the DOS mode using a boot disk made with a program of abandonia (system_disk, i think). Keep showing the same error message.

i remember that in the windows or system directory, there is a .PIF file somewhere called "ms-dos games with support of EMS and XMS memory.pif" or something like that.
when you edit it (properties), there is a full description of how does it work. i don't have win 98 installed anywhere right now, so i can't tell hope that helps

You might want to modify the config.sys and autoexec.bat of the bootdisk to remove any extraneous drivers and devices. I remember having a problem like that some years ago with Flashback. I've done some meddling with my autoexec and config, and got it to work, but can't remember the exact procedure (it's been six years ago). |
