Well, gods of the ancient world are mythical creatures as well... So you'd have the goddes Athena in the story of Illiad.

If you can't skim the book that well, maybe go to sparknotes and read that for some professionally analyzed skimming.

Mudkins from Abe's Odysee. And all those ones from that Harry Potter thing of magic creatures.

But if you've been set an essay question on the oddyssy and the illiad... surely you would've read them in class already.. Setting a pupil the task of reading both and then writing an essay on them is a bit ridiculous?
Hmm, no offence, but I think it's far more likely that he was supposed to have read both already and he just successfully managed to avoid it so far. (Sorry if this isn't the case, Troop.)

@Sebatianos: Gods aren't "creatures", though. Gods are... well... gods.

Hehe, some things made me laugh (especially Iron Scarecrow's points - good ones ).
1. No, I do not have either of the books.
2. I'm pretty sure I HAD to read it a few years back.
3. I'm allowed to use whatever heck I want (i.e. internet and other sources).
4. I'll just wrap up your stated ones (the m.c.) and just head over to any other site with info that I haven't visited (and believe me - I've went through a few), and then - then, voila (sp?) - a good grade for Troop18546 .

Thanks for your help good people. k:
